Continuing Education on Gambling Disorders

As a campus health professional, there are many ways you can expand your knowledge about gambling disorders. The National Center for Responsible Gaming is a leading provider of continuing education on this topic for health care providers. The NCRG sponsors an annual conference, Gambling and Addiction, a webinar series, and workshops in local communities. All feature the latest research on gambling disorders with an emphasis on how to apply this knowledge to clinical practice. 

The NCRG is an approved continuing education provider of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC); NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals; the California Board of Behavioral Sciences; and The California Foundation for Advancement of Addiction Professionals. Single-program approval is usually sought from the National Association of Social Workers, the American Academy of Health Care Providers in the Addictive Disorders, the National Council on Problem Gambling and the Employee Assistance Certification Commission.

NCRG Conference on Gambling and Addiction

At the 2011 conference, the NCRG offered 13 continuing education units. This year’s conference is scheduled for September 30 - October 2, 2012, at the Las Vegas Sands Expo and Convention Center in Nevada.  Continue to check the NCRG Conference website for additional information.  

Webinar Series

The NCRG offers free webinars throughout the year, which can be accessed from anywhere via the Internet. Individuals participating in each one-hour webinar will receive CEU credit. Past topics include Motivational Interviewing, CBT for Clients with Gambling Problems and Youth and College Gambling.

NCRG Monograph Series

The National Center for Responsible Gaming has developed a series called Increasing the Odds: A Series Dedicated to Understanding Gambling Disorders that brings the most important research on gambling disorders into the hands of a much broader audience.
